Senior Electro Mechanical Engineer - Up to £50k + Benefits

Location: South East

Reference: ABJ7500

An experienced Senior Electro Mechanical Engineer (electro-mechanical electrical / mechanical engineer) is urgently required to join a growing R&D team within a novel technology STEM organisation.

As an electro-mechanical engineer, you will utilize your mechanical design engineering and electrical expertise to lead and develop new system designs (equipment / machinery) concepts and technology solutions from idea through to commercially viable solutions for the business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead mechanical & electrical engineering activities supporting detailed design and development of machinery / systems equipment.
  2. Support communication with internal teams (including the US team) and contracted engineers to create functional project solutions.
  3. Collaborate with suppliers in the design, manufacture, and delivery of production line components.
  4. Lead prototyping and design verification testing to support mechanical design development, optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
  5. Design and implement approaches for verification, prototyping, materials selection, and testing.
  6. Integrate new technologies into production lines and new product development, including fault-finding and system improvements.
  7. Assist with the design, development, and operation of the company's UK pilot line.
  8. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize manufacturability, cost, and quality.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems and future technology trends.
  • Pyrolysis experience in large and small-scale operations - essential.
  • Proficient in CAD software, ideally SolidWorks and Navisworks (certified preferred).
  • Desirable: Experience with mechanical and electrical drawings (P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams, Electrical Diagrams, etc.).
  • Hands-on prototype development and validation experience.
  • Experience managing external partners and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, machinery design for explosive environments (ATEX), and hazard analysis (HAZOPs).
  • Familiarity with industrial standards (ISO, IEC, ASME/ASTM) and machinery control systems (PLC/HMI, VFDs).
  • Understanding of EPC documentation processes.

This is a full-time, permanent onsite role offering up to £50k base salary plus benefits, including 25 days annual leave.
