Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a Senior Electrical Supervisor to lead a team of Electrical Supervisors across Thames Water projects. You will manage electrical installation activities, coordinate with MEICA and commissioning teams, and ensure safety, quality and programme adherence on site.

You will also drive RAMS review, site safety inspections and the smooth handover of plant assets, working closely with Project Managers and asset operations teams.

Qualifications

  • Essential electrical leadership experience within water/infrastructure.
  • Experience leading multiple projects and teams.
  • Knowledge of electrical commissioning interfaces and safety standards.
  • Experience reviewing RAMS and coordinating with MEICA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Electrical Supervisors and subcontractors to deliver electrical works safely and to programme.
  • Coordinate with MEICA, Commissioning teams and Project Managers.
  • Review RAMS for electrical installation works and ensure compliance.
  • Support commissioning and plant handover activities.
  • Ensure 28-day reliability tests and integration with assets.
  • Maintain snagging lists and drive closure with contractors.
  • Ensure documentation and inspection/test records are complete.

Job description

Senior Electrical Supervisor

Location: Hampton (with travel across the Thames Water framework)

This is a critical leadership role supporting the successful delivery of projects across the Thames Water framework. As Senior Electrical Supervisor, you will lead a team of Electrical Supervisors and work closely with Project Managers, Senior Project Managers and the MEICA and Commissioning teams to deliver high-quality electrical installation works safely, efficiently and to programme.

You will help create a safe and inclusive working environment for employees, partners and our supply chain, ensuring projects are delivered to the required quality, safety and compliance standards. You will also support the successful commissioning and handover of projects through effective planning, coordination and defect resolution.

What you'll be doing:
  • Responsible for the Electrical installation works of the assigned projects in conjunction with the MEICA Lead
  • Ensuring a full understanding of the Electrical requirements of the projects, including an understanding of the commissioning requirements and interfaces with existing equipment and processes
  • Support the design team in the specification of electrical systems and general electrical design issues
  • Providing supervision of Electrical Supervisors and electrical subcontractors to ensure a high level of H&S and quality and conducting snagging of electrical works to ensure compliance with relevant standards
  • Appointment as Authorised Person Electrical (APE) under the Galliford Try Electrical Safety Rules. Undertaking electrical switching operations, controlling work on electrical systems. Ensuring that all persons working under his or her control are competent, experienced and qualified for the task they have to perform. Ensuring that routine inspections, testing and maintenance of electrical equipment are carried out as required. Undertaking regular electrical site safety inspections
  • Review and authorisation of RAMS for electrical installation works
  • Supporting the Commissioning team during the various stages of commissioning delivery and plant implementation
  • Ensure snagging lists are maintained and progression of the completion of all snags assigned
  • Support operation and maintenance activities until plant takeover
  • Support the 28-day reliability test
  • Working with the client Asset Operations Team to ensure full integration with the existing assets
  • Ensure all Electrical installation works meets the technical requirements of the project, including client specifications / Asset Standards and where applicable the Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Standards (WIMES)
  • Ensure that all the latest Galliford Try Electrical processes and procedures are adhered to
  • Engage with specialist support functions including DSEAR, Technical Authors, Document Controllers to ensure early engagement and clear understanding of project needs and deliverables including timescales
  • Ensure coordination of electrical activities with Galliford Try / Subcontract resources to ensure that the project specific requirements and programme are met
  • Ensure regular electrical installation programme updates are included within the main contract programme in collaboration with the planner, and that regular progress meetings are held at the necessary intervals
  • Witness testing of CFAT's as instructed by the MEICA Lead
  • Ensuring all paperwork / records / inspection & test check forms are maintained, operation and maintenance information from subcontractors is passed onto the document control team.
  • Ensure all electrical snags and outstanding works are cleared with focus to ensure these are completed whilst the relevant contractors are on site
  • Ensure the team work in a safe manner, and all Galliford Try process and procedures are adhered to
About you:
  • Experience working within the water industry or a similar regulated infrastructure environment.
  • Experience leading and supporting teams across multiple projects.
  • A strong track record of delivering electrical installation works through to successful project handover.
  • Experience managing client relationships and resolving project delivery issues collaboratively.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and report preparation.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Understanding of water industry processes and standards.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment used within the water industry.
Qualifications:

Essential

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • CSCS or ECS card in an appropriate discipline.
  • EUSR National Water Hygiene Card.
  • SSSTS as a minimum.
  • First Aid at Work.
  • BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition).

Desirable

  • SMSTS.
  • City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 Test & Inspect.
  • City & Guilds Authorised Person Module (AP12).
  • DSEAR Awareness.
  • CompEx FxF or equivalent qualification.
