Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer for the Hinkley Point C site in Somerset. The role combines electrical design, build and installation with a strong emphasis on constructability, safety and quality.

Initial design work transitions into construction/installation support, across major infrastructure projects and energy sectors. The position is hybrid (3 days on site / 2 days WFH) with a 12-month contract.

Qualifications

• Strong Electrical Engineering / Electrical Installation background.
• Experience across design and installation.
• Able to read and understand electrical drawings and plans.
• Experience on major construction, infrastructure, energy, M&E or similar projects.
• Nuclear or Hinkley Point C experience is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing electrical drawings, plans and specifications.
• Supporting electrical design with a strong focus on constructability and installation.
• Identifying potential design and build issues and developing practical solutions.
• Helping take electrical packages from design through to site implementation.
• Working closely with design, engineering and construction teams.
• Supporting technical reviews and resolving electrical installation issues.
• Ensuring work meets relevant safety, quality and engineering standards.
• Supporting site teams as the project moves into the construction phase.

Senior Electrical Project Engineer - Hinkley Point C

Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset

Contract: 12 months

Rate: £68 Per Hour Inside IR35

Hybrid: 3 Days on site / 2 WFH

Are you a Senior Electrical Project Engineers looking to support Hinkley Point C, with a particular focus on electrical design, build and installation?

The role will initially be design-focused, reviewing electrical plans and helping develop practical solutions that can be successfully installed on site. As the project progresses, you'll follow this work through into the construction and installation phase at HPC.

This would suit someone with strong electrical construction/build experience who understands both the design and practical installation of electrical systems.

The Role:

Experience Needed:

• Strong Electrical Engineering / Electrical Installation background.
• Experience across design and installation.
• Good practical construction/build experience.
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and plans.
• Experience on major construction, infrastructure, energy, M&E or similar projects.
• Electrically biased - this is an installation/project role rather than maintenance.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Candidates with an HNC/HND and strong build experience will be considered.
• Nuclear or previous Hinkley Point C experience is not essential.
