Job summary

The University of Bristol is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer or Experimental Officer to join the Technical Services team supporting the Electrical Energy Management Group. You will design, test and analyse novel high-power electrical systems while training researchers and ensuring safety compliance.

You will supervise lab activities, help with risk assessments, and assist in acquiring specialist equipment, contributing to cutting-edge low carbon research.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with high-power electrical systems.
• Knowledge of Electrical Safety Regulations incl. Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
• Ability to support researchers and supervise lab activities.
• Strong communication for diverse audiences.
• Experience with specifying/purchasing specialist equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inducting and training researchers in electrical fundamentals and safety.
• Ensuring electrical safety compliance.
• Assisting design, risk assessment, assembly, commissioning of novel equipment.
• Supervising laboratory activities.
