Job summary

Owen Daniels is recruiting a Senior Electrical Generator Engineer for a North West based role with a 50/50 split between the Preston office and customer sites. You will diagnose faults, perform maintenance, and provide technical support across a range of generator systems.

The role requires strong hands-on fault-finding skills, experience with AC alternators, AVR systems and control panels, and the ability to read electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• Experience in generators within power generation or related engineering sectors.
• Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with AC alternators, AVR systems and control panels.
• Good understanding of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
• Able to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Hands-on site experience with independent and team work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault-finding, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs across generator systems.
• Diagnose faults involving AC alternators, AVR systems, control panels, wiring and associated components.
• Investigate and resolve generator issues across single-phase and three-phase systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings to identify and rectify faults.
• Support generator testing, commissioning and performance checks where required.
• Provide technical advice and support to customers and colleagues, helping resolve complex engineering issues.
• Complete site visits to carry out inspections, fault diagnosis and repairs.
• Produce accurate service reports and technical documentation.
• Support the wider engineering team with technical problem-solving and continuous improvement.
