Job summary

Emtec Building Services is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our pre-construction team across Glasgow (Uddingston), Edinburgh or Dundee. You will lead electrical estimates from initial enquiry through tender submission, working with our pre-construction, commercial and delivery teams to create competitive bids.

The role requires a proven track record in electrical estimating within M&E or building services, the ability to read drawings and schedules, and proficiency with

Qualifications

• Experience as Electrical Estimator in M&E, building services or construction.
• Strong understanding of electrical services, installations and construction methods.
• Confident reading/interpreting drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Experience producing detailed estimates, budgets and tender submissions.
• Experience working with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Good commercial awareness to identify risks and opportunities.
• Ability to manage multiple tender deadlines.
• Experience using estimating software such as Trimble.

There’s a lot happening at Emtec Building Services right now. With new projects mobilising and a strong pipeline of secured work ahead, we’re continuing to strengthen our pre-construction team and are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join us.

This is a key role within the team, giving you the opportunity to get involved at the very early stages of projects and help shape how they come together commercially and technically.

You’ll take the lead on electrical estimates from initial enquiry through to tender submission, working closely with our pre-construction, commercial and delivery teams to put together competitive, well-considered bids and help turn opportunities into live projects.

Emtec Building Services delivers mechanical and electrical solutions across a wide range of commercial, industrial and public sector projects, supporting clients from early design and pre-construction right through to delivery and commissioning.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Preparing detailed electrical estimates and tender submissions across a range of projects.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents to fully understand scope and requirements.
• Producing accurate take-offs, cost plans and pricing schedules.
• Obtaining and assessing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identifying risks, opportunities and potential challenges at tender stage.
• Working closely with the wider pre-construction, commercial and delivery teams to develop the best approach for each bid.
• Leading or supporting tender submissions depending on project size and complexity.
• Supporting tender reviews and internal approval processes.
• Maintaining accurate pricing information and estimating data.
• Using your technical and commercial knowledge to help strengthen bids and support future opportunities.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone with strong electrical estimating experience who knows their way around building services projects and is comfortable managing tenders from start to finish.

You’ll bring:

• Previous experience in a Electrical Estimator role within M&E, building services or construction.
• A strong understanding of electrical services, installations and construction methods.
• Confidence reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Experience producing detailed estimates, budgets and tender submissions.
• Experience working with suppliers and subcontractors and reviewing quotations.
