Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Level 3) for Ampthill, Bedfordshire. On-site, 37.5 hours, with SC/DV clearance expectations and a permanent contract.

You will lead design and development of electrical subsystems for harsh environments, driving from concept to sell-off and ensuring compliance through detailed documentation. You will work under the Design Team Lead, producing specs, tests, and integration plans, while applying derating, EMC, and MIL standards knowledge

Qualifications

• Formal electrical qualification (HNC/HND/BEng or equivalent).
• Experience in electrical hardware design for harsh environments.
• Knowledge of derating, stress and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with Zuken or similar tools; EMC awareness at system level.
• Familiarity with Def-Stan/Mil safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of electrical/electronic sub-systems from concept to sell-off.
• Develop functional and physical design requirements for integrated architectures.
• Produce technical docs: trade studies, requirements, compliance and test evidence.
• Design and develop electrical sub-assemblies for DC systems.

HOURS: 37.5 P/W (4 days a week – Fridays are not worked)

Key Skills:

• Experience of Electrical Hardware Design & Electrical Product Development for Harsh Environments. Electrical analysis of derating, stress and tolerance. Experience of software tools (e.g. Zuken, Harnware). EMC Awareness at product and circuit level. Awareness of Def-Stan/Mil Standards, Safety and Quality processes.
• Clearance required: SC and eventually DV. The role MUST be satisfied by someone DV cleared (or who can obtain DV) and work full time on site. This is a critical role to maintain the dales within the SP Business Area. Sole UK only please.

About The Role:

• Reporting to the Design Team Lead, the Senior Electrical Engineer is expected to take responsibility for elements of the design, development of electrical / electronic subsystem solutions from concept to sell off. This could be bespoke design or a collection of COT’s items to achieve a robust design solution.
• You will facilitate the development of functional and physical design requirements to ensure complete integrated design architecture following a detailed phase-gate development process.
• You will have the ability to produce technical documentation to support all activities, from trade studies, requirements documentation, compliance evidence and test documentation.
• You will design and develop electrical / electronic sub-assemblies for low and high power DC systems.
• You will analyse, test and evaluate electrical circuits, components and protection of harnesses.
• You will be a strong team player with good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support other areas of the Business which could include planning, procuring, material controls, change control.
• Good self-management, driven to get the results needed, robust organisational skills and flexibility in tasks undertaken.

Skillset / Experience Required:
