Supporting both new product development and life cycle engineering this role is responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of electronic circuits for Neonatal Care devices including circuit modifications and component obsolescence mitigation.
- Accountable for all electrical/electronic assemblies including components, troubleshooting and circuit modifications.
- Implement the sub-system level architecture in the form of circuit designs which are responsive to the sub-system level requirements including product cost targets. Responsible for major component selection, schematic capture, circuit simulations, and PCB layout.
- Participate and lead detailed design reviews of the hardware design in accordance with SOP's
- Work with the verification team to verify the design by providing technical support for formal testing activities including creating detailed engineering assessments and overseeing and troubleshooting EMC / EMI testing.
- Provide support for verification protocols, perform or direct the performance of verification tests and review and approve the content of verification reports. Support the documentation activities needed to meet internal and external requirements, specifications and standards. Test within corporate, approval agency, and notified body guidelines.
- Develop product test specifications to assure proper functional testing of the sub-systems. Support the design transfer activities for volume production to ensure accurate manufacturing databases are release in the appropriate MRP systems.
- Provide technical support to other functions including Purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance. Communicate directly with and provide support to suppliers including occasional visits to supplier's facilities.
- Provide critical assessment and peer design review for engineers and developers working in a team environment.
- Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
Your QualificationsEducation:
BS Electrical Engineering required; MS Electrical Engineering preferred
Related Experience:
- 5 plus years of experience with analog and digital designs required.
- Knowledgeable in power conversion technologies, experience with schematic capture and PCB development tools, experience with Hardware Description Language, VHDL.
Special Competencies or Certifications:
- Design expertise using modern printed circuit board development platforms including Altium, Mentor or Cadence design flows.
- Experience with Lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, meters etc..)
- Programmable logic development using a hardware description language (VHDL) targeting FPGAs.
- EMI / EMC mitigation techniques, and design for manufacturing concepts.
