Black & Veatch Family of Companies seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to deliver electrical design for major nuclear infrastructure projects in the UK. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to design, upgrade and optimise facilities while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasises technical leadership, mentoring, and coordinating with clients and project managers to deliver robust electrical solutions across lifecycle stages.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership.
• Typically 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of UK standards, regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support delivery of electrical design packages for nuclear projects.
• Develop and review single-line/three-line diagrams, protection schematics, motor control diagrams.
• Prepare specs, scope documents and BOMs; conduct site surveys.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with UK regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients across lifecycle stages.

Job description

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical expertise across the design and delivery of electrical systems supporting major nuclear infrastructure projects. You will work as part of multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering solutions for both existing and new-build nuclear facilities, supporting clients through design, upgrade, refurbishment and asset optimisation programmes. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges.,

Lead or support the delivery of electrical design packages for nuclear infrastructure projects.
Develop and review:
Single-line and three-line diagrams.
Protection and control schematics.
Motor control and equipment wiring diagrams.
Cable schedules and cable sizing calculations.
Electrical equipment layouts and interconnection drawings.

Perform engineering calculations including:

• Load flow studies.
• Short circuit analysis.
• Motor starting studies.
• Arc flash assessments.
• Battery and charger sizing.
• Protection coordination studies.

Prepare technical specifications, scope documents and bills of materials for procurement and construction. Undertake site surveys and assessments to understand existing infrastructure and identify engineering solutions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers and clients. Support project planning, budget development and programme delivery. Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior engineers. Ensure compliance with UK regulatory requirements, client standards and engineering best practice

You are a technically strong electrical engineer who thrives in a collaborative project environment and is motivated by delivering engineering solutions that make a real impact., Experience delivering electrical design and engineering projects within regulated industries.

• Experience of power distribution systems and infrastructure design.
• Familiarity with engineering software
• Experience using discipline related software and other engineering design tools.
• Previous experience working on nuclear, power, industrial, defence or critical infrastructure projects.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership through a recognised professional institution. (Preferred but not essential).
• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Typically 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of UK engineering standards, regulations and industry best practices.
