Senior Electrical Engineer (Mission Critical - Datacenters) - (185775)

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer who enjoys working with multidisciplinary teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, from concept development, through design and specifications, to construction engagement.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work with engineering teams to create detailed designs, plans, specifications, and estimates for Data Centre/Mission Critical facilities. HDR is an employee-owned firm with transparent financials and a strong track record, providing many opportunities for career growth.

About You

You should be a competent and experienced designer, a self-starter capable of managing resources to meet project demands, maintaining high technical standards and regulatory compliance, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

In this role, you will:

  • Carry out engineering concept to detailed design.
  • Produce complete electrical system designs and installations for Data Centres/Mission Critical projects.
  • Ensure all projects and reports meet technical standards, with regular design reviews.
  • Lead and develop team members, set objectives, monitor performance, and coach staff.
  • Implement and manage QA systems and procedures.
  • Ensure designs comply with health and safety regulations, including CDM.
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 and 14001 Quality Management Systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BEng, MSc, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical design, especially for Data Centres.
  • Experience managing electrical design projects through all stages.
  • Knowledge of critical electrical systems: MV and LV power, standby generation, UPS, earthing, fire alarms.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D coordination.
  • Chartered Electrical Engineer (desirable).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical focus.
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, signal design, life safety, and BMS.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • Active participation in our employee-owned culture is essential.
