Senior Electrical Engineer (Mission Critical - Datacenters) - ( 181043 )

HDR has a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer who enjoys working with multidisciplinary teams throughout the entire span of a project, from the initial concept development, through drawings/specifications, to report preparation and equipment sizing and selection, and finally meaningful engagement during the construction contract.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with engineering teams to create detailed designs, plans, specifications and estimates for Data Centre/Mission Critical facilities. About You

Whilst you will be a competent & experienced designer, we are looking for a self-starter that can manage and develop resources to meet project demands whilst maintaining the highest level of technical excellence and regulatory compliance and work as part of the wider multi-disciplinary engineering team.

In the role of Senior Electrical Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  1. Carry out engineering concept design through to detailed design.
  2. Produce detailed design and installation design of complete electrical systems for Data Centres/Mission Critical projects.
  3. Ensure all design projects and reports within the group are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Maintain regular ‘in house’ design reviews and checks.
  4. Motivate yourself and manage staff within the group to build coherent high performing teams. Set objectives, monitor performance, coach and develop staff to optimize their potential.
  5. Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects.
  6. Implement Company Health and Safety. Ensure all designs respond to the CDM regulations.
  7. Ensure Quality Management System ISO 9001 and 14001 are adhered to.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. BEng, MSc or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services or relevant subject
  2. Minimum 4 years' experience in electrical design
  3. Experience in Electrical design for Data Centre is essential.
  4. Experience, especially in designing and managing projects.
  5. Managing Electrical Design throughout all design stages.
  6. Design Coordination with other stakeholders & disciplines.
  7. Wide experience of critical electrical systems, MV and LV power systems, standby generation, UPS, earthing, fire alarm systems.
  8. Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD and 3D coordination
  9. Chartered Electrical Engineer (desirable)

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  2. A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems);
  3. Professional Engineer (PE) license
  4. Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems
  5. Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software
  6. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
