Job summary

NTT Global Data Centers EMEA UK Ltd. seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to act as Electrical Subject Matter Expert and support regional CF Operations in construction, testing, commissioning, management and operation of electrical infrastructures.

This is a hybrid role, based mainly in Hemel Hempstead, with up to 30% travel nationally and internationally. You will provide regular reporting on condition and efficiency of electrical systems and identify opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with HV/LV switching and UPS systems in data centers.
• Knowledge of BMS/EMS and control systems.
• Security/background checks to BS7858:2019 or similar.
• Experience in HV/LV switching operations essential.
• Experience in European multi-cultural environment advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement Tech-Ops standards for electrical infrastructures.
• Support energy business cases for infrastructure changes.
• Ensure electrical systems are optimized and maintained.
• Carry out regular tours and ad-hoc inspections of facilities.
• Attend internal or external quality audits.
• Review and develop commissioning procedures with subcontractors.
• Lead post-handover lessons learned meetings.
• Conduct meetings on operational performance and update stakeholders.
• Carry out project management duties (planning, costing, procurement, supervision).

Your role at a glance As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will act as the Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) and support the regional engineering and Critical Facilities (CF) Operations teams in the construction, testing, commissioning, management and operation of their electrical infrastructures. You will provide consistent regular reporting of the condition and efficiency of the electrical systems, identifying any areas for improvement. This is a hybrid role, with the majority of time based in Hemel Hempstead. The position also requires flexibility to travel both nationally and internationally, up to 30% of the time.

What you will do

• Assist the regional team in defining and implementing the Tech-Ops (Technical Operations) standards and ensure that the electrical infrastructures are effectively maintained and optimized
• Help and support the regional team in creating energy business cases for infrastructure change
• Ensure that the electrical systems are efficiently optimized
• Carry out regular tours and ad-hoc inspections of the regional facilities
• Attend any internal or external quality related audits
• Regularly review and develop commissioning procedures including subcontractors
• Hold post-handover project lessons learnt meetings for further improvement
• Conduct meetings regarding the operational performance of the electrical infrastructure and provide regular updates to the Stakeholders
• Carry out project management duties if required, e.g. initial planning, costing, procurement, subcontractor selection supervision and management

What we are looking for

• Several years of experience working in electrical critical environment within a large company, IT-Industry, Telecommunications, Electric power industry or comparable preferred
• Detailed technical knowledge of the type of large-scale electrical systems, including HV, LV, UPS, Standby Power and related electrical systems and BMS/EMS and control systems
• Proficient knowledge in discrimination, short circuit and arc flash studies is desirable
• Experience in HV/LV switching operations essential
• Experience in Data Centers is considered a significant advantage
• Subject matter experts understanding of operational and maintenance governance principles
• Familiarity with SOP/EOP development and the CAB process
• Experience of working in a European multi-cultural environment
• Awareness of Root Cause Analysis management frameworks highly desirable
• To undergo full security and background checks to BS7858:2019 or similar
