Qualifications

  • 5 - 7 years experience working with a recognised Electrical contractor.
  • Data centre experience essential.
  • Excellent organizational and project planning skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Navisworks and Database systems related to Engineering functions.
  • Familiar with Project / Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM process.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure deadlines are met by supporting the project team.
  • Oversee design and installation processes for compliance.
  • Manage project's quality needs on-site and guide compliance.
  • Evaluate sub-contract and supplier tender returns for technical compliance.
  • Manage technical submittals and approvals while ensuring specifications are met.
  • Submit and maintain project schedule compliance from engineering activities.
  • Manage subcontractors to ensure timely progress according to the project schedule.
  • Promote new engineering practices to improve project delivery time.
  • Prepare tender packages in collaboration with Project QS.

Overview

A leading specialist engineering contractor that operates across Ireland, the UK and Mainland Europe, and specialises in the delivery of complex pharmaceutical, data centre, commercial and petrochemical infrastructure, is actively recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer for a flagship data centre in West London. The ideal candidate will come from a similar background and have previous experience working on a similar project such as data centre or pharmaceutical or industrial projects. The data centre sector is the fastest growing sector in construction at present; there is no better time to be getting into the sector. This coupled with the increased emphasis that this client has put on their data centre division, makes an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Senior Electrical Engineer.

Responsibilities
  • Information reporting will be an essential activity to ensure activity deadlines are met to support the project team.
  • Familiarisation of Design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of the Project works. Overseeing the Co-ordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings by BIM personnel ensuring spec compliance and as per schedule priority.
  • Assisting the Installation Package team to manage the project\'s quality needs on-site, guiding to ensure we are compliant to all relevant standards/codes and specifications associated.
  • Assessment of Sub-contract and Supplier Tender returns for Technical compliance with design intent specifications.
  • Familiarisation with the Project schedule and ensuring Engineering activities do not impact on same (e.g. Procurement, etc).
  • Management of the technical submittal, approvals.
  • Ensure Works are installed in accordance with Project specifications and to the Project QA plan.
  • Management of Sub-contractors and ensuring adequate information flow to ensure works progress in line with the Project Schedule and Weekly Meeting logged.
  • Evaluate and promote the use of new engineering practices and processes to enhance the delivery time of the project.
  • Preparing Sub-contract and Supplier Tender Packages in conjunction with Project QS.
Electrical Engineer Background
  • 5 - 7 years experience working with a recognised Electrical contractor
  • Data centre experience essential
