Job summary

Hoare Lea in Manchester is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Senior Engineer to deliver high-quality, sustainable electrical design across multiple built-environment projects. You will join our Manchester office and lead defined electrical work streams, coordinating with MEP and specialist teams to ensure compliant, innovative outcomes.

We value hands-on delivery, mentorship of junior staff, and strong client liaison.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Building Services Engineering; industry membership preferred.
Working towards or holding IEng/CEng.
Strong technical competence in LV distribution, lighting, earthing/protection and emergency/standby systems; able to produce calculations and drawings.

Responsibilities

Take briefs and deliver electrical design work from inception through to completion.
Produce electrical calculations, drawings, and technical documentation that comply with relevant regulations, design guides, and client standards.
Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines (MEP and specialist groups) and third‑party consultants.
Review and comment on technical information provided by contractors and sub‑contractors; check site installations against the design intent.
Attend and report at design team meetings, client meetings and project meetings.
Witness selected testing and commissioning activities and support handover documentation.
Manage own workload to meet programme deliverables and report progress to your line manager.
Contribute to the professional development of junior colleagues.
Senior responsibilities: Develop briefs and deliver the electrical discipline on a small project or large schemes; mentor and supervise juniors; contribute to commercial aspects (scope, risk, cost).
