Job summary

Aldwych Consulting in Nottingham is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer to join our established building services team. The role focuses on delivering electrical designs across commercial, industrial and education sectors, with hands-on project ownership.

You'll work closely with architects and engineers, use BIM and Revit for coordinated models, and support junior staff while maintaining high technical standards throughout design, tender and construction phases.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent in Electrical/Building Services Engineering.
• Experience in building services consultancy or similar design environment.
• Proven ability to produce electrical designs across project stages.
• Strong knowledge of electrical building services systems (power, lighting, emergency).
• Experience with UK regulations/BS 7671.
• Familiarity with Revit/BIM environments.
• Proficiency in electrical design & calculation software.
• Strong communication with clients, contractors and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical building services designs for commercial and construction projects.
• Take projects from concept through detailed design, tender and construction.
• Produce calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
• Design/coordinate LV distribution, lighting, emergency lights, containment and small power.
• Work with architects and engineers to develop coordinated solutions.
• Undertake site surveys and identify electrical conditions for practical solutions.
• Review drawings and contractor submissions during delivery.
• Attend design meetings and provide clear technical input.
• Assist with commissioning, snagging and resolving issues during construction.
• Use Revit and other tools to produce coordinated project information.
• Support junior engineers and maintain high technical standards.
