Senior Electrical Engineer - 11kV/400V Power Systems

Job summary

Scantec is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a major power distribution project in Hartlepool. You will design and deliver 11kV and 400V electrical infrastructure for a large industrial site, working across feasibility, design, installation and commissioning.

You will liaise with DNOs, manage interfaces, ensure safety and regulatory compliance (CDM, safety standards), and mentor junior engineers while supporting project managers and contractors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience designing industrial power distribution systems at 11kV and 400V
• Working knowledge of interfaces between privately owned power distribution systems and DNO / National Grid systems
• Experience working in highly regulated environments with high safety standards
• Strong knowledge of safety, environmental and quality standards, legislation and regulatory requirements
• Experience delivering construction projects in accordance with CDM requirements
• Experience producing technical designs in accordance with codes and standards; creating electrical specifications and drawings
• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering activities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to stakeholders
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of 11kV and 400V power distribution systems for a large industrial site
• Manage technical interface with the DNO, including negotiating technical agreements for new connections
• Provide engineering oversight of installation, commissioning, modification and maintenance of electrical systems
• Coordinate electrical works within live and regulated environments, ensuring safety and compliance
• Support the Project Manager and Construction Manager on electrical infrastructure matters
• Produce and maintain engineering documentation including technical specifications, quality plans, drawings and supporting docs
• Respond to technical queries per established processes
• Support contractor selection and contract placement
• Undertake technical reviews of contractor designs and drawings
• Carry out feasibility studies and electrical site surveys
• Develop relationships with designers, contractors and customer teams
• Prepare Engineering Changes and coordinate related documentation
• Review commissioning docs and oversee testing and commissioning activities
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers
• Author and verify technical reports for stakeholders
• Prepare technical proposals and bids
• Liaise with suppliers, customers, regulators and stakeholders
• Provide technical guidance and support across projects
