Job summary

A growing engineering firm in Pembroke is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to lead a team on various projects in the renewable energy sector. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering and experience in designing electrical systems within the energy industry. Qualifications

  • Degree qualified, chartered status desired but not essential.
  • Experience of designing electrical equipment in an energy industry environment.
  • Previous site experience beneficial alongside design background.
  • Proficiency with design standards and protocols.
  • Knowledge of wiring diagrams, control logic, AC/DC schematics, and cable sizing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Electrical Engineers on various projects.
  • Ensure compliance with client design specifications.
  • Prepare and check deliverables including drawings and datasheets.
  • Participate in design and risk management workshops.
  • Prepare and check drawings, schedules, datasheets, specifications; input to control philosophies.
  • Understand wiring diagrams, control logic, system descriptions; perform sizing calculations.
  • Participate in design reviews, 3D model reviews, value engineering, risk workshops.
  • Design and test simulation software devices for project simulations.
  • Provide input into HAZOP/HAZIDs and support team members.

Lead Electrical Engineer - Staff - West Wales

Location: West Wales

Role & Responsibilities
  • Leading a team of experienced Electrical Engineers and Designers across a range of fast paced projects.
  • Undertake design and checking of deliverables according to discipline and area of expertise.
  • Checking the quality of design work to ensure compliance with agreed client design specifications.
  • Ensuring team deliver to high engineering standards - will be required to lead by exmaple.
  • Preparation and checking of deliverables including drawings, schedules, datasheets, specifications, (input to control philosophies and narratives if applicable).
  • Must understand wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, system calculations, 1-line and 3-line AC drawings, AC & DC schematics, and be able to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations
  • Participation in design review, 3D Model Reviews, Value Engineering, Risk Management workshops,
  • Design and testing of simulation software devices for complete project simulation.
  • Responsible for engineering design and assessment in line with client expectations as well as supporting others within the team.
  • Will be required to provide input into HAZOP / HAZIDs.
Key Skills & Knowledge
  • Must be degree qualified, chartered status desired but not essential.
  • Experience of designing electrical equipment, preferably in an energy industry environment.
  • Previously worked on design projects in the Oil & Gas, Petrochem, or Renewable Energy industries.
  • Experience of electrical equipment and its application in conventional and safety applications.
  • Experience in relevant design standards and protocols.
  • Experience in other major energy such as Energy from Waste or similar will also be highly advantageous.
  • Previous site experience in conjunction with a design background beneficial.
