Arup is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer in Manchester to lead building services design across diverse sectors. You will drive technical excellence, manage design teams, and collaborate with architects, structural engineers and clients to deliver high‑quality, sustainable outcomes.

You will contribute to feasibility studies and full project delivery, with a focus on efficiency, digital design methods, and Net Zero goals.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Services Engineering, ideally with a Masters.
• Chartered Engineer status via IET or CIBSE.
• Experience leading electrical design on building services projects.

We have opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer looking for technically challenging work on cutting‑edge projects, to join our established Building Engineering team. Arup’s Building Engineering Services team are currently working on a wide range of projects.

The opportunity

Apply your engineering expertise to help shape and deliver innovative projects within a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, designing buildings that maximise value for our clients while supporting their journey towards Net Zero Carbon. You will play an active role throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies through to completion, working across a diverse range of sectors including commercial, residential, education, energy, sport, healthcare and mixed‑use developments.

As part of our commitment to digital innovation, you will contribute to the ongoing transformation of our business by exploring new ways to improve efficiency through automation and leveraging our integrated digital design approach to deliver enhanced services and better outcomes for our clients.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking to speak to people who:

• Degree qualified in Electrical Services Engineering, ideally to Masters level.
• Have achieved Chartered Engineer status via an appropriate professional institution such as IET or CIBSE
• Excellent design and technical skills
• Have had lead design responsibility on projects for the Electrical Services Engineering
• Have experience of and enjoy working collaboratively in multi‑disciplinary design teams, contributing to projects from inception to completion.
• Demonstrable experience in the field of electrical building services design with experience across a range of project scales and building types
• Strong planning and organisation skills
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
• Able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness and be developing successful relationships with external team members
• Committed to their own professional development and looking for challenging work to develop their engineering skill.
• A passion for design and an enthusiasm for architecture and sustainable building design.
• Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude and experience in design analysis software.
• Experience of working within a BIM environment using Revit beneficial.
• Experience of managing small teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects
• Experience in and interest in training and developing younger engineers and technicians
