Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Leicester – 1 Day WFH

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience + Car Allowance

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a client who is an independently owned mechanical, electrical & environmental design consultancy with a proven reputation in design-based services across sectors such as commercial, education, healthcare, heritage, hotel & leisure, residential, and retail/hospitality within the construction industry.

Due to continued expansion, they are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience in building services to join their team. In this role, you will manage multiple projects, ensure timely and high-quality delivery, and take ownership of detailed electrical designs, either independently or as the technical lead within project teams.

The responsibilities include load assessments, lighting and small power layouts, cable sizing, protection studies, and coordinating electrical infrastructure. Collaboration with mechanical engineers will be essential to ensure a fully integrated MEP design that meets project requirements.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Lead or independently deliver detailed electrical designs.
• Perform load assessments, cable sizing, lighting/power layouts, and protection studies.
• Coordinate electrical infrastructure with MEP teams for full design compliance.
• Attend design meetings and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Track project schedules, aligning with client deadlines and budgets.
• Contribute to sustainability analysis and review energy documentation.
• Support and mentor junior and intermediate engineers.
• Promote cross-disciplinary learning with mechanical and sustainability teams.
• Participate in design reviews and approve junior/intermediate work.

Experience & Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of current building regulations, CIBSE guidelines, British Standards, IET wiring regulations (BS 7671), and other electrical standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and Microsoft Office.
• Chartered or working towards chartered status with CIBSE or IET.
• Minimum 6–7 years’ experience in electrical engineering, with exposure to design, construction, and project delivery in building services.
