Our client has a requirement for an Electrical Engineer, to work on a contract basis in Manchester, supporting key projects within the water industry.

Role Purpose:

To provide robust electrical design solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout all phases of delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver detailed electrical design outputs that meet project safety, quality, and performance requirements
2. Produce design calculations, drawings, and documentation for water and wastewater treatment works
3. Mentor and support CAD technicians, graduates, and junior designers
4. Oversee and review the work of subcontracted M&E design teams
5. Collaborate with equipment suppliers and manufacturers for specification and integration
6. Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design investigation documents
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant technical, professional, and internal standards
8. Track, manage, and document design changes within project scope
9. Provide accurate estimates for design effort and resource planning
10. Attend and contribute to client meetings, design reviews, and presentations

Experience Required:

1. Minimum 10 years' electrical design experience within the UK water industry
2. Demonstrated hydraulic design capability
3. Background in electrical and/or control systems engineering
4. Experience with both clean water and wastewater infrastructure
5. Solid understanding of engineering drawings, standards, and multidisciplinary collaboration
6. Awareness of construction techniques, materials, and site considerations

Qualifications & Skills:

1. Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
2. Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership (with relevant professional registration)
3. Proficient in relevant engineering software and IT systems
4. Strong technical knowledge in electrical systems; control systems experience is advantageous
5. Effective communicator with a proactive, solution driven mindset
6. Committed to continuous professional development and mentoring others
7. Results-focused with strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
