Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to shape electrical design across water projects in Scotland. You will drive design from concept through commissioning, ensuring integration with MCCs, LV distribution, cabling, instrumentation and SCADA systems.

You will mentor graduates and engineers, interact with clients, and ensure compliance with design standards and safety requirements, while supporting growth within a dynamic, integrated design-build environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (ICE/IMechE) or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering high-quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication with team members and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to sites across the operational region.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and reviewing electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on client sites; working with MCCs, LV distribution, cabling, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs and SCADA.
  • Producing and reviewing technical specifications and procurement schedules; reviewing supplier bids and technical submissions.
  • Supervising and mentoring Graduates and Engineers to develop knowledge and skills.
  • Understanding and applying design standards and maintaining familiarity with client and WIMES standards.
  • Engaging with the client, building relationships and supporting their aims.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities. Working primarily in the UK water market, MMB provides the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services needed to keep water flowing and wastewater treated. You’ll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the electrical functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all electrical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

The role of a Senior Electrical Engineer includes:
  • Preparing and reviewing electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on our client's site. You will be working with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, Cabling, Instrumentation, Industrial Networks, PLCs and SCADA. Systems will be both new latest technology and existing legacy installations.
  • Producing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
  • Supervising and mentoring our Graduates and Engineers assisting them to develop their knowledge and skills.
  • Understanding, applying and contributing to design standards with a good knowledge of Client and WIMES standards.
  • Positively engaging with the client, building relationships and supporting them to achieve their aims.
What you’ll need:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Chartered or incorporated member of professional institution e.g ICE, IMechE, etc, or equivalent experience
  • Experience of successfully delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
