Automation/ Senior Electrical Engineer – Drive Efficiency & Innovation

Location: Commutable from Deeside, Flint and Holywell
Salary: £68,000 + up to 10% Profit Bonus
Hours: Days Monday–Friday (early finish every Friday!)

What you’ll be doing
  • Review downtime data to identify why breakdowns happen — is it electrical, mechanical, PLC-related, or equipment obsolescence?
  • Implement practical solutions, from upgrading rollers to recommending automation improvements.
  • Use Parana Shire systems to build, schedule, and manage maintenance tasks as part of the wider strategy.
  • Lead preventative and planned maintenance programmes that drive uptime and reliability.
  • Supervise contractors, issue work permits, and ensure all external work meets site safety and compliance standards.
  • Represent Engineering in cross-functional meetings, acting as the technical voice to influence decisions.
  • Deliver and manage significant capital investment projects.
  • Track performance through clear KPIs, showing improvements in your area and across your team.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting support when needed, solving complex engineering challenges.
  • Mentor and develop the technician team to achieve higher performance and technical growth.
What we’re looking for
  • Electrical/Automation skill set with strong hands-on problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient in Siemens S7, TIA, ProfNet & HMI systems.
  • Degree, HND, or HNC qualified (or equivalent experience) with at least 5 years in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record in downtime analysis and implementing preventative strategies.
  • Strong experience leading capex projects and engineering upgrades.
  • Confident in supervising contractors and managing work permits.
  • Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
  • Calm, methodical, and decisive when working under pressure.
