Job Title – Senior Electrical Engineer

Location – West London (Hybrid working)

Type – Permanent Salary - £65k - £75k (experience dependant) + tax-efficient share scheme

Our client is a well-backed, London-based Clean-Tech Start-Up, developing innovative solutions for green hydrogen production. They have just gone through a significant funding round and are looking to expand their team, including the need for a Senior Electrical Engineer.

The Opportunity:

You will play a critical role in bringing the company’s groundbreaking novel technology to market by optimising its electrical architecture and designing robust, high-performance systems. Taking a leading authority in electrical engineering, you will work in a diverse and multidisciplinary team on an exciting development road to commercialisation.

What you’ll do:

● Design and develop the company’s modular electrolyser from its existing prototype through to pilot and productionisation.

● Be the in-house design authority for the electrical architecture, leading on the electrical system design for the cell, module and system.

● Design, calculate, and model the modular electrical system to optimise for efficiency, interfacing with engineers and scientists of all disciplines in the wider design team

● Lead electrical test and validation working closely with the technology, process, safety and mechanical teams.

● Bus-bar and multi-module electrical architecture design and qualification

● Qualify installations and commission systems. Troubleshoot in-life challenges and diagnose the root cause of issues.

● Lead electrical discipline technical input for projects and/or proposals; including preparation, checking and/or approval of engineering documentation, specifications, BoMs and work packs for equipment and materials.

● Support the C&I function in scoping and identifying optimal electrical instrumentation and control and manage its deployment with appropriate software

● Offer expert insight in system design reviews and in safety reviews such as HAZOPs and FMEAs

● Manage relationships with external partners and contractors ensuring accurate and timely deliverables.

About you:

Ideally, you will:

● Be Degree qualified (or equivalent) in relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Electrical / Instrumentation & Control Engineering) with 6+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering design roles.

● Experience on testing, checking and commissioning of systems, wiring diagrams, specifically onto the control side, design of control panel/ software for automation

● Knowledge of HV isolations, energisation and commissioning requirements.

● Experience in the requirements for CE marking of plant and equipment, including ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive and EMC Compliance

● Thrive in a startup environment as a self starter and proactively identify problems and pursue solutions.

● Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously without losing sight of the long term goal.

Desirable

● CEng certification.

● Knowledge of the hydrogen industry, electrolysers and/or fuel cell technologies is an advantage.

● Experience in renewable power equipment development would also be an advantage.

● Have worked in early stage product development and delivering a pathway to commercialisation.

● Significant experience of control and instrumentation design.
