Job description

Urenco, a trusted long-term supplier to the nuclear industry, specializing in safe, cost-effective, and reliable uranium enrichment services, is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer on a contract basis (inside IR35), based in Capenhurst near Chester.

In this role, you will be accountable to a Design Manager (or their delegate) for providing professional technical input into engineering activities related to decommissioning, lifetime extension, and process improvement projects.

Rate: £60-70 Umbrella (Inside IR35)

What will your day look like?

1. Producing and managing engineering deliverables in accordance with standards, UUK procedures, safety case, and nuclear site license requirements.
2. Developing, reviewing, and approving project plans and schedules to ensure effective delivery.
3. Providing routine updates on deliverable statuses.
4. Checking and approving engineering deliverables within your delegated authority.
5. Specifying and accepting activities and deliverables from contractors to ensure compliance and timeliness.
6. Identifying solutions to technical problems on site, with proper control and management.
7. Producing change management documentation and reviewing others' change documents to assess impacts.
8. Ensuring lifecycle management requirements for assets are fully considered and implemented.
9. Undertaking commissioning activities when required and authorized.

What do you need to excel in this role?

1. Degree in engineering (BEng or MEng) or equivalent.
2. Preferably professionally qualified with a relevant UK Engineering Institution.
3. At least six years of relevant experience within the last ten years, preferably in nuclear or a highly regulated industry such as oil/gas, power, or pharmaceuticals.
4. Broad understanding of other engineering disciplines, technologies, plant systems, and processes.
5. Knowledge of UK nuclear regulatory requirements and site license conditions.
6. Experience with legal and regulatory standards, and nuclear-specific design codes and standards.
7. Qualified in IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition.
