Overview:
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a forward-thinking engineering team delivering cutting-edge solutions for defence and marine systems. This role involves the full lifecycle of electrical design, from concept through to commissioning, with a strong focus on CE compliance and engineering assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver electrical designs, calculations, and documentation to support project objectives
Provide guidance on installation and trial documentation and procedures
Maintain detailed design data packs for repeatable and reliable manufacturing
Contribute to CE compliance through standards assessment and technical file compilation
Investigate and resolve complex engineering issues in collaboration with subcontractors and suppliers
Create specifications, outline designs, test plans and reports
Recommend improvements based on prototype testing and trial outcomes
Work collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders
Attend project meetings, estimate work packages, and support junior engineers
Support testing and trials on platforms including surface vessels and submarines
Essential Skills & Experience:
BTEC, HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
Proficient in electrical design CAD software - EPLAN knowledge advantageous
Strong understanding of defence standards and design for EMC and safety
Working knowledge of CE marking directives and harmonised standards
Familiar with Design Assurance practices and processes
Strong problem-solving and documentation skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
Desirable Attributes:
Previous experience in defence, marine, or high-integrity sectors
Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical tasks
Team-oriented with a flexible and proactive mindset
