Job summary

Astute is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the thermal team on a hybrid/remote basis in the UK. The role focuses on delivering electrical design across the full project lifecycle, from initial concept through to site support.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Electrical Engineering, may be chartered or working towards it, and possesses substantial LV/HV industrial electrical infrastructure knowledge.

• Experience with LV/HV industrial electrical infrastructure is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical expertise to identify and resolve project challenges.
• Review designs and contribute to development of drawings, specs, and calculations.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and sketches; support testing activities.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design and project requirements.
• Identify risks and contribute to mitigation measures; support business development and tender submissions.

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a global engineering company, specialising in the energy sector, to recruit for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their thermal team in the UK. With offices across the country, this will be a Hybrid role and can be fully remote.

Responsibilities and duties of the Electrical Engineer

• Providing engineering and technical expertise to identify, assess, and resolve project-related challenges;
• Supporting design development and undertaking technical reviews of designs prepared by others, where required;
• Producing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design deliverables, including drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, construction programmes, and related documentation;
• Preparing comprehensive and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, engineering calculations, and sketches;
• Attending and supporting factory and site acceptance testing activities;
• Monitoring and inspecting construction activities on site to ensure compliance with design and project requirements;
• Maintaining complete, accurate, and well-organised project records and documentation;
• Identifying potential health and safety, design, sustainability, and commercial risks, and contributing to the development and implementation of appropriate mitigation measures;
• Supporting business development activities, including establishing and maintaining client relationships, promoting the company's capabilities, preparing proposals, and managing tender submissions;

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• A Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering is a necessity
• Ideally chartered status or happy to work towards this

Personal Skills and prior experience

The Electrical Engineer role would suit someone who has:

• Significant knowledge and experience with LV and HV industrial electrical infrastructure - ideally within power generation for an engineering consultancy
• Good knowledge of British standards and regulations
• Project Management training will be ideal
• Prior experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
• Experience working through full project lifecycle from initial design through t operations
• Experience liaising with DNOs
• Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered for this opportunity
