Job Description

My client in the Cardiff area is looking for a Senior Electrical/Electronic Engineer due to expansion.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

1. Control the design, development, and evaluation, from concept to mass production for new models, ensuring they comply with customer requirements.
2. Critically evaluate design proposals and participate in peer review meetings.
3. Develop test procedures to validate designs.
4. Study EMC & Signal Integrity issues, identify and eliminate design problems before sample stages.
5. Ensure liaison with customers, suppliers, and departments to keep all project stakeholders informed.
6. Provide evidence that relevant customer, regional (e.g., EN), and general product safety directives are considered where appropriate.
7. Apply technical expertise to investigate, identify, implement, and support countermeasures and improvements to resolve complex issues.
8. Fully assess and consider historic problems and endeavor to eradicate them from future designs.
9. Lead and support engineers in development activities.
10. Ensure development builds are according to agreed schedules.
11. Support cost requirements for projects, including sample costs, mass production parts, and tooling costs.
12. Support the Project Leader to create and maintain project plans/schedules for electrical/electronic aspects of developments.
13. Consider new technology to improve and implement new R&D systems/processes.
14. Provide information for weekly project updates, including updates on new or ongoing issues.
15. Attend and contribute to relevant development meetings, both internal and external.
16. Mentor and support other members of the R&D department with technical aspects of their work.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

1. Degree level qualification in an Engineering or business-based discipline plus 5 years relevant industry experience, or at least 10 years relevant industry experience in a similar role.
2. High level of experience in Electrical and EMC testing in a design environment and fault finding to component level.
3. High level of experience with PCB design tools (Zuken CR5000 preferably) and Circuit simulation tools.
4. Experience in designing electronics circuits and taking the design from concept to mass production.
5. Knowledge of project management processes.
6. Experience with soldering and de-soldering (including surface mount components).
7. Excellent knowledge and experience of electrical and electronic circuit theory.
8. Hands-on experience of using electrical and electronic test equipment and tools.
9. Effective team player with a flexible attitude and good communication skills.
10. Experience of leading a team of Engineers/Technicians.
11. High level problem-solving skills with the ability to efficiently resolve technical issues.
12. Knowledge of my client's Home Appliance products would be desirable.
13. Must have a valid driving license and be willing to travel internationally.
