Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer for our client in East London. The role focuses on planning, designing, and managing the development of the electrical distribution network to ensure reliable power supply for the region.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of distribution engineering experience, strong problem-solving skills, and familiarity with DMS/SCADA systems. Pr.Eng registration is highly desirable for this position in the UK market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical power distribution engineering.
• Familiarity with DMS and SCADA; knowledge of distribution codes a plus.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and supervise electrical distribution projects including overhead lines and underground cable networks.
• Conduct load flow, fault level, and power quality studies for the distribution network.
• Specify and manage procurement of distribution equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and protective devices.
• Develop protection schemes for medium and low-voltage distribution systems.
• Ensure compliance with electrical standards, safety regulations, and utility policies.
• Collaborate with project managers and field crews to ensure timely project execution.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues and network faults.
• Contribute to long-term network planning and asset management strategies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers in the East London office.

This role is essential for planning, designing, and managing the development of the electrical distribution network, ensuring a reliable and efficient power supply to customers in the Border Kei region. You will be involved in substation upgrades, network extensions, load analysis, and the integration of new technologies to improve grid performance and resilience. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in distribution network engineering, a thorough understanding of relevant regulations, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Your expertise will be critical to the ongoing development and maintenance of the power infrastructure serving East London.

Key Responsibilities
