Senior Electrical Designer (Water Utilities Projects)

Location: Cheshire (3 days office-based + 2 days from home)
Contract Type: Full-time Permanent

The Opportunity

We re seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Designer to join our Cheshire-based projects team. You ll be a key player in the design and delivery of complex Utilities sector projects, working alongside a multi-discipline team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

This is a hands-on role requiring autonomy, leadership, and clear communication both with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for Water Utilities Projects
  • Develop concept through detailed designs (RIBA Stages 2 4)
  • Produce reports, scope of works, layouts, SLDs, earthing diagrams and more
  • Conduct site surveys and assess client requirements
  • Liaise with clients, equipment suppliers and multi-discipline teams
  • Support construction with high-quality technical documentation and drawings
  • Seek out and apply innovative engineering and design solutions
  • Estimate resources for design activities and contribute to planning
  • Work closely with the on-site installation team and attend the office 3 days a week.
  • Interface with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC and Civil.

What You ll Need

  • Minimum 5 years experience in electrical design, ideally in the Water Utilitiessector
  • HNC, Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Engineering-related subject
  • Proficiency in LV Distribution, Lighting, Fire Safety Systems, Security Systems, Structured Cabling
  • Familiar with CDM 2015 regulations and E&I design best practices
  • Ability to deliver 2D and 3D design documentation (layouts, routing, SLDs, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working through all project phases from concept to construction support
