Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer (Building Services) to lead the electrical design of building services projects in the UK. You will head project delivery, mentor engineers, and ensure scope, cost and quality targets are met across diverse sectors.

You will guide planning and calculations, manage client relationships, and contribute to recruitment and budgeting while driving continuous improvement and innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven relevant project design experience in building services electrical engineering.
• Degree in Building Services Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech and building regulation compliance assessments.
• MCIBSE / MIET C Eng accreditation (or actively working towards it).
• Strong knowledge of UK building regulations.
• Experience in sustainable technology integration.
• Proven project leadership and people management capabilities.
• Excellent technical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead functional delivery of multidisciplinary projects ensuring scope, time, cost and quality.
• Mentor staff and contribute to team development, planning and resource management.
• Represent Jacobs in client meetings and strengthen relationships for future work.
• Guide planning, prioritising tasks, and checking calculations for high-quality outputs.
• Support recruitment, budgeting and policy development as part of project leadership.
