In the UK, Safran Seats specializes solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide-body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales, and Brackley, England.

Based in Cwmbran, South Wales, working as part of the Electrical Design Department, you will be responsible for managing teams producing electrical installation models and detailed drawings for new product and platform designs. You will also oversee the checking and approval of all electrical design work to ensure compliance with company, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities and duties:
  1. Manage electrical engineering platform teams.
  2. Ensure standards and performances are achieved by the design team.
  3. Supervise and coordinate design activities.
  4. Manage daily attendance and holidays for your engineering team, including absence management.
  5. Assist in recruitment of team members as required.
  6. Conduct professional development reviews and ensure KPIs are met.
  7. Manage and deliver electrical systems programs according to schedules and budgets. Responsible for electrical submittals.
  8. Coordinate with regulatory agencies (EASA, FAA, Boeing, Airbus) to certify electrical systems.
  9. Check and approve systems drawings and documents for compliance with OEM and regulatory standards.
  10. Update electrical standard and process documentation.
  11. Liaise with electrical equipment manufacturers for finalization of equipment and installation specifications.
  12. Report program status to senior management.
  13. Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and OEMs.
  14. Participate in Design Reviews during each phase of the New Product Introduction process.
  15. Select and apply appropriate materials and processes for each design element.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (HNC/HND or Electrical Apprenticeship) - Essential.
  • Experience with project management tools - Desirable.
  • Proven experience supervising an Electrical Design team - Desirable.
  • Experience with 3D CAD & AutoCAD electrical software - Essential.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems - Desirable.
  • Understanding of tolerances, manufacturing processes, OEM installation requirements - Essential.
  • Experience with Boeing and Airbus electrical specifications - Desirable.
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic components manufacturing and testing methods - Desirable.
  • Ability to read design drawings and specifications - Essential.
