Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Wakefield commutable from Pontefract, Castleford, Leeds, Doncaster etc.

Salary: GBP50,000 – GBP60,000 DOE.

Permanent Full–time On–site

Working hours: 37.5 hrs/week (Mon Thurs 7:30am 4pm, Fri 7:30am 1pm)

Hawk3 Talent solutions are currently supporting our leading engineering solutions provider in the manufacturing sector who is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver complex electrical design projects, contribute to innovation, and mentor junior engineers in a collaborative, forward–thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design from concept through to delivery.
• Produce and review technical drawings and documentation, including:
• Electrical schematics, SLDs, BCDs, cable schedules, P&IDs, I/O schedules, layouts, and calculations.
• Ensure designs meet regulatory and safety standards (e.g., BS7671, IEC).
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and project engineering teams.
• Engage directly with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements and propose solutions.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Required Experience & Skills

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of electrical design experience (building services, power generation, or manufacturing preferred).
• Proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD and EPLAN.
• Strong understanding of LV power and distribution systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem–solving skills.
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is desirable.
