Job description

Mott MacDonald Bentley is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA).

The 330km Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) Project by Anglian Water is under construction and will be completed during AMP8. Beyond this, we have a further 260km of water transfer pipelines and infrastructure to deliver in AMP8.

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK’s most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The SPA is seeking a Senior Electrical (EICA) Design Engineer to support our project delivery team.

What will you be doing?

You will be embedded within the SPA delivery team, responsible for project design outputs, information flow, and consistency. You will monitor workload, liaise with various leads, and lead the production of detailed electrical design elements. Your role involves providing innovative, optimized designs for significant industry projects, focusing on value for money and applying engineering principles. You will handle electrical deliverables for potable water pumping stations and reservoirs.

Key responsibilities:

1. Producing and checking diagrams, DNO applications, generator and MCC specifications, installation specs, system architecture, datasheets, reviewing supplier designs, and testing.
2. Input to process control, P&IDs, 3D models, HAZOP, and LOPA studies.
3. Reporting to the SPA EICA Discipline Lead, working with supply chain and delivery teams.
4. Developing technical solutions from concept to construction and handover.
5. Understanding design interactions, embracing digital transformation including Digital Twin creation.
6. Coordinating production of construction drawings in CAD, BIM, GIS, and embracing digital delivery.
7. Providing technical support and input to client meetings.

Skills, experience, and behaviors:

• HNC or Degree in electrical engineering.
• Experience in water industry applications design.
• Experience in Design and Build projects, witness testing, instrumentation, control systems, and automation.
• Knowledge of BS7671 latest edition.
