Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Belfast
A rapidly growing and forward-thinking company specialising in control systems is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer. This role involves leading the development of bespoke control systems from concept to completion, supporting a diverse range of projects across the UK and Europe.
The successful candidate will work with a high level of autonomy, contributing to innovative engineering solutions and collaborating closely with both internal teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Create detailed 2D and 3D electrical schematics and models using ePlan Pro Panel and Harness software to meet customer requirements.
* Collaborate with the Sales team to interpret customer technical needs, including direct communication with clients when required.
* Investigate and integrate new materials, components, and production techniques.
* Support physical testing of prototypes and production units when necessary.
* Produce manufacturing-ready engineering drawings and revise them for custom client specifications.
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during production, commissioning, or in-field operation.
* Conduct site visits to evaluate installations and provide on-site technical input.
* Coordinate with the manufacturing team to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
* Source appropriate components and materials for projects.
* Maintain technical documentation, including specifications and user manuals.
* Generate and manage accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Candidate Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
* Minimum of 3 years in an electrical or heavy engineering design environment.
* Proficiency in 2D and 3D design tools (preferably ePlan or similar platforms).
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and systems integration.
* Excellent time management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* Analytical thinker with a structured, problem-solving mindset.
* Valid UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
* Engine control systems
* Familiarity with J1939 communication protocol
* Knowledge of hydraulic systems
* Experience with software development or integration
