Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Our client is part of a group that has been established for almost 200 years and employs more than 5,500 staff globally, specialising in bespoke heavier engineering and materials handling activities for various applications. Due to continued success and ongoing growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer based in their Leeds office to join their electrical engineering team. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will undertake responsibilities including:

1. Developing designs and specifications for control systems across the product portfolio.
2. Coordinating site, application, and design engineering resources to meet project requirements.
3. Ensuring effective interface between design, production, procurement, and installation teams to optimize project costs and implementation.
4. Developing a working understanding of applicable industry standards.
5. Managing the technical content of projects concerning cost, quality, contract documentation, and specifications, ensuring projects stay within budget (including design hours, outsourcing, site labor, etc.).
6. Attending customer sites and liaising with customer engineering representatives as required.

To be considered for this role, candidates should ideally be qualified to degree level or above in Electrical Engineering (or comparable qualifications) and have at least 5 years of electrical design experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment. Extensive design engineering experience in a drawing office, proven project management skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficient use of AutoCAD Electrical 2020 (or equivalent) are essential. Knowledge of low voltage motor speed control applications will be advantageous.
