About the Role

An independent, employee-owned engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Consulting Engineer for a minimum 12-month contract. This hybrid role offers flexibility to work remotely and from regional offices across the UK, with occasional travel to client sites. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally, with a focus on energy transition, water systems, and sustainable development.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support electrical engineering design and delivery across transmission and distribution systems.
  • Prepare technical specifications, concept designs, and feasibility studies.
  • Provide technical advisory and due diligence support on major infrastructure projects.
  • Design cable systems and substations, including equipment selection and layout.
  • Participate in tendering, proposals, and client engagement activities.
  • Support site-based activities such as FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development.
Candidate Profile
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BSc minimum; MEng/MSc desirable).
  • Strong understanding of UK electricity networks and stakeholder environments.
  • Experience in design, construction, or operation of transmission/distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, and compensation systems.
  • Knowledge of protection and control systems is beneficial.
  • Previous consulting or project delivery experience preferred.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is desirable.
