About Our Client

Senior Electrical Building Services Engineer to join one of the UK's leading Universities. You will lead a dedicated team of engineers in the design and delivery of complex electrical install, maintenance, and refurbishment projects. This role is critical in ensuring the university's electrical infrastructure is designed, maintained, and upgraded to the highest standards. The Principal Electrical Engineer will oversee both High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency in all operations. This role will support the delivery of the University Estates Strategy through projects creating new electrical infrastructure as well as improving and replacing existing systems.

Job Description

  • Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of electrical projects, including building infrastructure, HV and LV systems, and related installations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of electrical engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Manage team workload, priorities, and resource allocation to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors for seamless electrical system integration.
  • Conduct analysis and risk assessments for electrical systems, implementing mitigation solutions.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to understand their electrical infrastructure needs and develop engineering solutions.
  • Present technical reports, project updates, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree/HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng/CIBSE) status or working towards it
  • Extensive experience in electrical systems design, installation, and maintenance, including HV and LV infrastructure
  • Proven leadership and management experience in engineering teams
  • Strong project management skills with a record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget
  • Deep knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Experience working within large organizations
