Job summary

Basildon Borough Council is seeking an Electoral Services Manager to lead the council’s electoral services team and ensure compliance with electoral legislation. The role focuses on the register of electors, canvassing, elections management and community governance reviews in Basildon Borough.

Qualifications

Experience and knowledge of developing and maintaining an Electoral Management System.
Ability to advise the public in person and over the phone.
At least 5 years’ experience in electoral services and knowledge of UK political environment.
Deep understanding of electoral legislation and guidance to implement compliant practices.
Proven leadership and management of teams.

Responsibilities

Lead electoral services team: recruitment, training, appraisal and performance management.
Oversee compilation and maintenance of the electors register and related matters.
Monitor legislative changes and implement compliant practices.
Plan and execute annual electoral canvass with canvassers and contractors.
Manage absent voters register and annual postal vote refresh.
Lead electoral, polling and community governance reviews and elections.
