Job summary

Basildon Borough Council is seeking an Electoral Services Manager to lead the council's electoral services team, ensuring compliance with electoral legislation and managing the register of electors for Basildon Borough.

The post requires extensive experience in elections and registration, strong leadership, and the ability to oversee canvasses, postal votes, and community governance reviews with on-site duties a minimum of three days a week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in electoral services environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK electoral legislation and governance.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the electoral services team, ensuring recruitment, training, development, appraisal, performance, workload allocation and quality assurance.
• Oversee the compilation, maintenance and supply of the register of electors in accordance with legislation and guidance.
• Ensure annual canvass planning, delivery and adherence to budget/timescales with high satisfaction levels.
• Prepare and submit returns to the Electoral Commission and manage staff for canvasses, referendums and elections.
