Summary

Freedom Network Services is currently recruiting an experienced Operational Estimator to compile comprehensive estimations based on supplied documentation and current standards.

As a Senior EHV Cost Estimator, you will lead surveying and pricing for new Connection Projects, managing and delivering accurate, tailored estimates efficiently. The estimator plays a key role in driving company growth by ensuring enquiries are handled effectively, accurately, and in accordance with client specifications.

You will need knowledge and experience in working with and pricing local DNO networks and/or National Grid projects, including ICP and IDNO connections. Projects will typically involve scaffolding, trackway, traffic management, materials, plant, equipment, and resources.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing quotations from specifications and drawings within specified timeframes.
  • Conducting on-site surveys and assessments, evaluating risks and potential issues.
  • Evaluating options and alternatives.
  • Checking the accuracy and completeness of third-party documents and engineering specifications.
  • Liaising with procurement, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain the best quotations.
  • Producing formal quotation documentation.
  • Collaborating with operational colleagues.
  • Attending handover meetings to explain project scope, estimates, clarifications, and assumptions.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Knowledge of Overhead EHV/Transmission installations, conductors, insulators, etc.
  • Experience in estimating roles or delivery backgrounds with exposure to National Grid or DNO/IDNO/ICP projects.
  • Formal training in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or relevant fields is advantageous.
  • Proven track record in providing technical solutions and costing in electrical and civil engineering environments.
  • Full driving license.
