Summary

Freedom Network Services is currently recruiting an experienced Operational Estimator to compile comprehensive estimations based on supplied documentation and current standards.

As an EHV Senior Cost Estimator, you will lead surveying and pricing for new Connection Projects and be responsible for managing and delivering accurate, tailored estimates efficiently. The estimator plays a key role in driving company growth by ensuring enquiries are handled effectively, accurately, and in accordance with client specifications.

You should demonstrate knowledge and experience working with or pricing local DNO networks and/or National Grid projects, including ICP and IDNO connections. Typical projects involve scaffolding, trackway, traffic management, materials, plant, equipment, and resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare quotations from specifications and drawings within set timeframes
  • Conduct on-site surveys and assessments, evaluating risks and potential issues/financial impacts
  • Evaluate options and alternatives
  • Check the accuracy and completeness of third-party documents and engineering specifications
  • Coordinate with procurement to liaise with subcontractors and suppliers for the best quotations
  • Collaborate with operational colleagues
  • Attend handover meetings to explain project scope, estimates, clarifications, and assumptions
Candidate Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of Overhead EHV/Transmission installations, conductors, insulators, etc.
  • Experience in estimating or delivery roles involving National Grid or DNO/IDNO/ICP connection projects
  • Formal training in Electrical or Power Engineering or relevant field (advantageous)
  • Proven track record in providing technical solutions and costing in electrical and civil engineering environments
  • Full driving license
