Location: Southwark, London

Contract: Agency Worker Role

Department: Children’s and Adults’ Services

Southwark Council is looking for a Senior Education Welfare Officer to join their Family Early Help Service — a pivotal role that directly supports children, young people, and their families in accessing and remaining in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure children of compulsory school age attend and engage in education.
  2. Partner with schools, families, and young people to prevent exclusion and improve attendance.
  3. Lead on enforcement actions such as legal planning meetings, Education Supervision Orders, and court proceedings under the Education Act (1996).
  4. Support multi-agency plans and Team Around the Family interventions.
  5. Work with stakeholders to track and re-engage Children Missing Education (CME).
