Job summary

Newfield School in Blackburn seeks a Senior Education Health Care Assistant to support pupils with complex needs, following Education Health Care Plans. The role covers education, health, medical and personal care, with emphasis on communication and classroom support. Training and development are provided.

Working 39 weeks per year during term time, 8:30am–3:30pm with one extra hour weekly; salary pro rata £28,153–£31,015; hourly £14.59–£16.08. Closing date 16 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with complex needs is preferred.
• Ability to follow Education Health Care Plans and promote learning.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals and groups of pupils to access outcomes outlined in Education Health Care Plans.
• Assist with education, health, medical, physical and general care needs following agreed plans.
• Promote effective communication using Makaton, PECS, and other communication aids.
• Provide general support to teachers in managing pupils and the classroom.
