Your New Role…

We are looking for a Senior Editor to join our Factcheck Team. This role is a critical part of CNN’s editorial oversight process, ensuring our most important stories meet the highest standards of accuracy.

This is an editorial leadership position within the Factcheck team and the newsroom, where you will help shape our multiplatform coverage, especially on Russian affairs.

Your Role Accountabilities…

• Network-wide script and story approval, including sensitive and controversial content.
• Ensure every story meets standards of accuracy, quality, fairness, and balance, while minimizing risks of defamation, libel, and copyright infringement.
• Approve difficult stories, including investigative reports and long-form documentaries.
• Approve sources, including anonymous ones.
• Ensure stories are in a publishable state and meet output needs.
• Coordinate with CNN’s Standards and Practices and Legal departments, calling on them when necessary.
• Manage a specialist coverage area, specifically Russian affairs.
• Guide the network’s coverage of this area.
• Contribute explanatory or analytical work on your specialist subject for digital platforms, in written and video formats. You may also appear on air as a specialist analyst.

Qualifications & Experience…

• Proven experience as a field reporter or producer, with senior editorial responsibilities including digital stories, scripts, or similar.
• Strong attention to detail to catch mistakes others might miss.
• Ability to make quick, informed editorial decisions.
• Understanding of maintaining CNN’s reputation for accuracy and fairness.
• Experience in multiplatform journalism and awareness of industry changes.
• Deep knowledge of your specialist subject, with extensive written or on-air contributions.

Hybrid working model, combining remote and in-office work, subject to company policy and agreement with your Line Manager. WBD reserves the right to modify this arrangement as needed.
