Job summary

The Actuary, a leading specialty insurer and reinsurer in the UK, seeks an experienced Capital Modelling Actuary to own and evolve its economic capital framework. This newly created leadership role sits within a high-profile capital function, offering significant exposure to senior stakeholders and direct influence on business strategy and capital allocation.

You will lead end-to-end model development, embed outputs into strategic planning and decision-making, and manage a small actuarial team,

Qualifications

• IFoA qualification or equivalent required.
• Extensive capital modelling experience in general insurance.
• Strong understanding of economic capital frameworks.
• Proven ability to embed model outputs into business decision-making.
• Experience leading and developing actuarial staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, maintenance and enhancement of economic capital models.
• Own parameterisation, calibration and reporting processes.
• Drive model usage and embedding initiatives across the business.
• Deliver insights to executive stakeholders and committees.
• Support business planning, capital allocation and strategic decision-making.
• Lead model development projects and methodology improvements.
• Manage and develop junior actuarial team members.
• Collaborate with underwriting, exposure management, reserving and risk teams.
