Senior Ecologist - Wakefield

Salary Range: Starting at £30,000 and upwards depending on experience

Location: Wakefield

Looking for an opportunity to advance your career in consultancy within a supportive environment? We are a dynamic and growing business seeking a self-motivated and positive-minded Senior Ecologist to join our friendly team in Wakefield. The successful candidate will support clients across various sectors, coordinate protected species surveys, advise on constraints and survey requirements, and report writing. This position offers the chance to build on existing experience, lead projects, mentor colleagues, and engage with clients to deliver sustainable solutions.

The role involves regional site work, potential travel, and occasional overnight stays, with expenses covered. We have offices in Manchester, Lichfield, Norwich, London, Cardiff, and Sussex.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A full clean UK driving license
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Ecology or related field
  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of UK environmental legislation and policy
  • Experience in ecological field surveys, including protected species
  • Report writing skills and mitigation development experience
  • Ability to liaise with stakeholders and attend meetings
  • Organizational skills and workload management
  • Membership of CIEEM or equivalent
  • Proactive and self-starting attitude
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Desirable criteria include protected species licenses, Biodiversity Net Gain experience, botany specialization, and over 5 years of relevant experience.
