Job summary

Waterman Group is seeking an experienced ecologist to lead surveys and technical delivery across a range of projects in the UK. You will provide leadership for EcIA, HRA, BNG and related ecology chapters, while managing budgets, resources and timelines.

The role requires strong client management skills and a track record mentoring junior ecologists, with energy industry, water, transport or infrastructure experience valued. Driving licence and relevant licences or specialisms are preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology or a related discipline.
• Proven track record leading ecological projects from inception to completion.
• Strong client management and communication skills.
• Mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
• Specialist licences or expertise in survey/mitigation work (e.g. BNG, EcIA).

Responsibilities

• Lead ecological surveys, assessments and technical delivery across a range of projects.
• Provide technical leadership and quality assurance for PEAs, EcIA, HRA, BNG, protected species mitigation, and EIA ecology chapters.
• Act as technical lead on complex and high-profile projects with compliance to legislation and best practice.
• Manage multiple projects and teams including budgets, resources, risk and financial performance.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
