Job description

RPS, now part of Tetra Tech, is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our UK Environment Division. We deliver ecological assessments, surveys, mitigation design, and monitoring for renewable energy projects. RPS is a global multidisciplinary consultancy shaping environmental, social, and economic landscapes.

What you’ll be doing
  • Planning and conducting habitat and protected species surveys, supervising field staff, and identifying key receptors and constraints.
  • Preparing and delivering technical reports, EcIA, ES chapters, and inputting into HRA reports, along with designing mitigation measures aligned with NPF4.
  • Managing project finances with senior support.
  • Collaborating with management and clients to generate new work streams, tenders, and proposals.
  • Travel may be required; a full UK driving licence is necessary.
Who we’re looking for
  • Full CIEEM membership and a relevant degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in delivering Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) and preparing licence applications, including EPS licensing (Class 1 or 2 bat or other species).
  • Knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and survey techniques.
  • Strong project management, influencing, and communication skills to build effective relationships.
