The Role

As a Senior Ecologist, you will be responsible for delivering a wide variety of ecological projects. You will collaborate with technical specialists, mentor junior team members, and engage with clients to provide expert advice.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Lead and deliver ecological surveys, including protected species assessments and habitat assessments.
  2. Manage complex ecological projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality outcomes.
  3. Support and mentor junior ecologists, fostering growth and sharing your expertise.
  4. Contribute to business development by building relationships with clients and identifying new opportunities.
  5. Engage with multidisciplinary teams to deliver nature-based solutions that leave a lasting impact.

About You

You will be an experienced ecologist with a strong understanding of UK environmental legislation, habitat assessments, and protected species surveys. You will have excellent project management skills and the ability to nurture junior team members.

  1. Degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
  2. Strong technical knowledge of ecological survey methodologies, species identification, and relevant environmental legislation.
  3. Experience in managing projects and mentoring team members.
  4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
  5. A proactive attitude with a passion for promoting sustainable solutions.
  6. Level 2 bat licence or ornithological expertise (highly valued).
  7. Experience delivering training for junior ecologists.
  8. Knowledge of GIS/CAD tools for survey planning and data management.
