Job description

RPS is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our team within the UK Environment Division. We deliver ecological appraisals, surveys, mitigation design, and monitoring for renewable energy projects. RPS is a global multidisciplinary consultancy shaping environmental, social, and economic landscapes.

What you’ll be doing
  • Planning and conducting habitat and protected species surveys, supervising field staff, and identifying key receptors and constraints for development.
  • Writing technical reports, EcIA, ES chapters, contributing to HRA reports, and designing mitigation measures compliant with NPF4.
  • Managing project finances with support from senior management.
  • Collaborating with management and clients to generate new work streams and leading tenders.

Travel will be involved; a full UK driving license is required.

Who we’re looking for
  • Full CIEEM membership and a relevant degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in delivering ECoW and preparing EPS and other license applications.
  • Possibly an EPS licensed consultant (Class 1 or 2 bat/species) with knowledge of UK/EU wildlife legislation and survey techniques.
  • Strong time, project management, influencing, and communication skills to build relationships with colleagues, clients, and external bodies.
